Position: Childcare Provider for Home or Group Home Facility -- Thorne Bay, Alaska

Background
Peanut Butter Pals Daycare Association is a group of parents and Forest Service employees at the Thorne Bay Ranger District who work to bring quality, dependable, affordable childcare services to our rural community.

The Forest Service provides the Daycare Association with a rent free, two-bedroom apartment and outdoor play area in the Government residential complex. The site qualifies as a Group Home Care facility under Alaska State licensing laws with a maximum capacity for 12 children. The current childcare provider has operated the facility since 1995.

The Daycare Association contracts with the Forest Service for the site, and with the childcare provider for facility operations and childcare services. The Daycare Association also works with the provider to improve facility operations, resolve issues and raise funds.

Position
The Daycare Association is seeking an energetic, dependable, self-motivate individual with interest and experience in early childhood development to continue operation of the existing facility. Duties of the position are two part: providing childcare services, and management of the child care business.

Child Care Services include:
·Create a safe, happy, nurturing atmosphere for all children at the facility.
·Lead children in planned activities appropriate to their development level.
·Prepare 2 meals and 2 snacks each day.
·Facilitate indoor and outdoor play.
·Uses appropriate discipline such as positive reinforcement and redirected activity to ensure proper behavior and safe conditions.

Business Management services include:
·Possessing valid provider and site licenses issued by the State of Alaska.
·Maintaining adequate insurance for operation.
·Operating the child care facility in accordance with Alaska licensing requirements.
·Maintaining daily operation files including attendance records, payments, and medical and emergency information for each child enrolled.
·Filing monthly applications to NAEYC Food Program and Childcare Grant Program.
·Developing weekly meal and activity plans for infant, toddler and preschool age groups.
·Managing a monthly or bi-monthly tuition billing and collection system.
·Providing daily cleaning services.
·Communicating and coordinating with the Daycare Association to improve facility operation and resolve problems.

Income
Provider income is derived from tuition payments. The Daycare Association will work with applicants to develop a childcare services proposal based on applicant's experience and average facility enrollment figures.

·Provide 3 references using the attached Reference Form,
·Include cover letter with description of applicable childcare experience and explanation of why you are interested in providing childcare services in a rural Alaskan community.
